Version 4.00.32 (June 2000)
Geoida v4.00 represents the arrival at a major stage in the development of the application known formerly (in a very limited circle) as MegaTrav. The major new feature of Geoida is the conversion from the 16-bit to 32-bit Windows environment now making it compatible with Windows 95, Windows NT4 and more recent versions.
The primary functionality is similar to MegaTrav v3.33, but there is a small number of new options and features including ...
- Creation of triangular geoid model
- Interpolation of geoid-spheroid separation from geoid model
- Geoid-spheroid separation now included in distance reductions
- Enhanced List Points option now also lists latitude/longitude and cartesian XYZ in a variety of formats; sort on any column; modify a selected point
- Import option enhanced to read and convert latitude/longitude to current job
- List of recent jobs included in menu for easy selection
- Menus rearranged into a more standard range of general options
There are also many other enhanced features and changes too numerous to list. Please consult the on-line help for full details.
Version 3.33 (MegaTrav) Sept 1999
Bug Corrections
- SDR data (collected with SDR33) - Point number 0 for some backsights corrected
- TOB file - Point number 0 recorded for some backsights corrected
- Point number limitation extended to 10000 for evaluation version
- Numerous corrections and changes made re database errors - now checks for invalid job detail entries and corrects if found; enhanced saving of data at critical stages, eg Exit, Select Job, New Job. ** NOTE ** The option Review Bounds may be used to force a revaluation of certain job parameters if database errors are experienced; the option Repair Job may also be used for correcting database corruptions. Continuing problems may actually be caused by incompatible system files which have overwritten those installed by MegaTrav Setup
Version 3.32
Bug Corrections
- Reset to correct job after List Jobs
- Un-resolved database corruptions repaired automatically - program continues
Version 3.31
Bug Corrections
- Corrections to some derivation codes in List Points
- Error corrected in Delete Window when deleting lines
- Import Points - descriptions corrected
- Database errors 3022 (duplicate key in index) and 3015 (... isn't an index) corrected
- Other database errors corrected - prompts to re-start & compress database
Enhancements/New Features
- Added Alt+Break key trapping in main window for program abort
- Added prompt to allow program abort after 10 errors
Version 3.30
Bug Corrections

- Traverse summary now does not show heights if no VCs
- Traverse summary now correctly indicates sideshots
- Some distances computed as 0.000 due to data error - corrected (P Read, 3-Feb-99, Job GEOTECH1)
- 'Lost' windows - Previously, if the user swapped to another application while a MegaTrav option was still active, upon swapping back to MegaTrav again the current option's window or dialog box could become hidden behind the main MegaTrav window and often could not be accessed again. Now the main MegaTrav window remains enabled when an option's window is displayed on top - this is so that the main window may be minimised to allow access to the other window if it becomes hidden. Note that while the main MegaTrav window remains enabled while an option is running, most menu items are still disabled.
- Height correction for distances and C/R correction for VCs/VAs now applied to LS Adjustment (Note - at present, geoid-spheroid separation is NOT applied to height corrections)
- 'No header details' error corrected in Radiations option when Compute button pressed before data saved
- Import points - point description corrected
- Derivation code was being set to (blank) during traverse reduction - corrected
- Errors 3022, 3043, 3279 - these errors or other database errors may be caused by latent inconsistencies in jobs created by a version earlier than v3.3. To correct the problems, change to a different job, exit MegaTrav, re-start, execute Repair Job, and select the job to be repaired from the list. Check data screens and list or display points to check if OK
Enhancements/New Features
- MAJOR NEW FEATURE - Now graphically displays points and lines for the current job in the main window. Existing jobs will be updated to the new format whenever an old job is selected, or all jobs in the current data area will be updated if List Jobs is selected. The new VIEW menu adds numerous new options for zoom, pan, etc within this display
- Writes DOLA CSD output file after LS adjustment
- Computes area enclosed by a closing traverse
- Plot Database Points removed from Points menu (now not necessary due to new graphics display); Zoom Point Range option in new View menu is similar
